2024 Graduate Programme
At Windward, we present you with the opportunity to explore two distinct career paths: becoming a broker or an analyst.
Broker:
A ship broker connects ship owners and cargo owners. They arrange the transportation of dry bulk cargoes by sea and arrange the employment of a vessel on behalf of the clients. This is achieved through fixing a vessel, which requires diligent, time sensitive work with our principals.
Analyst:
An analyst, on the other hand, conducts thorough research and analysis within the shipping and commodities markets. They play a vital role in helping our clients navigate the complexities of the maritime sector by offering data-driven insights, supporting strategic decision-making and intelligence around shipping and trade. The work of an analyst contributes significantly to ensuring we can help our clients manage their complex shipping needs.
Why shipping?
Shipbrokers are specialist intermediaries who facilitate the movement of goods and products and negotiate between shipowners and charterers.
90% of world trade is carried by sea, which makes shipbrokers integral to the smooth functioning of the global economy.
Shipbroking is fast-paced, results-driven, and one of the most rewarding careers in the maritime industry. It can be a lucrative profession, but it is unlike a normal or routine job. It is a long-term endeavour and one that you build towards and work upon every day. It can take many years to develop the specialist skills required to become a successful shipbroker.
